About

Details & Photos

The narrow road leading from Buzet or Motovun to Veli Mlun climbs in the curves to a place with lovely views of the Buzet town and its surroundings. Certainly this view at the center of the Croatian truffle production deserves a brief pause before the same path continues to the small village of Veli Mlun. And in the village there is an old farm of Dorjan and Orjana Jakac.

Seoski turizam Jakac

We sit under the trees, which casts its shadow on the stone facade of the old Istrian house, and enjoy the first class Muscat. It ascinates with the aroma and rich taste. This is not something strange, since the Jakac wine has won numerous awards. This Agritourism began with wine tasting offer. The Jakac cellar boasts with excellent Chardonnay, Teran, and of course the inevitable Malvasia. Afterwards. the offer was extended with the famous Istrian brandy. The culinary specialties are served in the old stone tavern. Here you can enjoy in winter and in summer, with a fireplace and old wooden tables, where the Jakac family will bring their own homemade olive oil. Olive groves are located on the western slopes of Veli Mlun and guests are cordially invited to participate in the olive harvest.

Our conversation with the hosts is accompanied with the houskeeper, a Bernardine dog, one of the household dogs who live in special boxes. They are looking for unusual growths in the earth, with unattractive shapes and a strong odor. It is the highlight of the Istrian gastronomy - the truffle. Visitors can stroll Buzet forests in search of this earthly treasures, or simply enjoy the longest Istrian river Mirna. Buzet area is criss-crossed with hiking and bike trails, and very close is also the spa Istarske Toplice.

True experience of Istrian village is extended with a stay in the apartment, located in a separate building. Three people can enjoy a retro style apartment with four stars, and the familly will soon expand the accommodation facilities with a swimming pool.

In Jakac you will find hospitable and friendly local people, and enjoy the everyday life of an Istrian village.
