The 10th Štruklijada, the event of the Krapina-Zagorje County, was held at the Kumrovec Staro Selo Museum. It is the preparation of the Štrukli, Zagorje specialty which has the mark of the protection of the immaterial cultural heritage.
The winner of this year's Štruklijada is Klet Zagorski dvori - OPG Micakiz from Marija Bistrica, the second place holds Slasticama Tri užitka from Bedekovčina, while the third best štrukli in the world wax prepared by the Restaurant & catering Sermage from Sveti Križ Začretje. The title of the best štrukli was decided by the jury: president Branko Ognjenović, a renowned Croatian chef and culinary academic, and members: director of restaurant and hotel consulting company Štruml Ivica Štruml and Branko Čukelj, food and beverage director at Hotel Sheraton and vice president of the Croatian Chef Association.
Štruklijada was organized this year as part of the project "I enjoy the tradition", itself a part of the Interreg V-A Slovenia-Croatia Program. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund for the period up to 2019, worth € 1,500,000. Within the project, next year we can all enjoy the Grandma's cakes event.
Zagorski štrukli are made from fresh cow cheese, butter, eggs and wheat flour mixed with wheat. They are sprinkled with cream and baked in a baking oven.
