Gastronomic magic at the Maraston Visitor Center

In recent days, top-notch culinary workshops "Show cooking - slow food" were held at the Maraston Visitor Center, where participants had the opportunity to learn from renowned chefs and enjoy creative gastronomic creations.

The first workshop, held on February 28th, was a real treat for food lovers. Chef Gaia Zec delighted the participants with a blend of tradition and modern interpretations of flavours, creating impressive dishes perfectly paired with Giulio Ferenac wine. The menu included delicacies such as sardine savoury with saffron mayonnaise and pickled onions in Teran, stuffed capellacci with chicken with pickled celery and almonds, and a sweet ending of friutula with brandy ice cream, Teran and plum cream and almond crumble. Every bite was a real explosion of flavors, and the atmosphere was unforgettable.

Saffron, that precious golden spice, is known for its complex and refined flavor that combines notes of honey, floral aromas and subtle bitterness. Its unique aroma comes from a combination of spicy and earthy tones, with a slight shade of sweetness that gradually develops on the palate. In gastronomy, saffron is not only a spice, but also a subtle flavor builder – whether it is enriching creamy risottos, rich soups or sumptuous desserts. The true power of saffron lies in its ability to transform a dish with a small amount, leaving a warm, long-lasting and almost mystical impression.

A week later, on March 7th, the participants continued their culinary journey with Chef Siniša Cerin, Executive Chef of the Grand Park Rovinj Hotel. In an inspiring environment, they prepared exquisite dishes, such as an octopus salad, a tuna steak with Chinese cabbage and cauliflower cream, and a raspberry tart. Each dish was complemented by carefully selected wines from the Bruno Ferenac winery in Vižinada, creating a unique experience that combined superb cuisine and oenological harmony.

The Tourist Board of the Municipality of Vižinada, with the support of the Administrative Department for Tourism of the Istrian County, organized these workshops on the eve of Women's Day, and a new cycle of workshops is planned for November.
