Gourmet pizza in Tavern Mulić

The Mulić Tavern in Omišalj, a recognizable destination all year round, is located in a small bay where Josip Polonijo has created an idyllic tourist environment with villas and resorts of old charm. This tavern, known for its Krk specialties, consists of a traditional stone interior and a spacious outdoor terrace located by the sea, more precisely on the small pier it was named after.

Although pizzas have been part of the menu before, Konoba Mulić is now introducing gourmet pizzas that delight not only with their appearance but also their refined flavours. During our visit in February, we were surprised by how full the restaurant was midweek, outside of the primary season, which testifies to the quality of the cuisine and the pleasant atmosphere. The tavern's interior is adorned with massive wooden furniture on which carefully prepared delicacies are served.

Gourmet pizzas have become a real gastronomic hit in Croatia, offering inventive combinations that enrich the standard offer. However, creating a top-notch pizza requires the exceptional culinary skills of a "picajol" who recognises the ideal combination of dough and ingredients. At Konoba Mulić, this combination is brought to perfection, and interestingly, a chef from India is behind these flavours.


We spoke to him as he prepared the pizza dough and directed it towards the oven, reaching temperatures over 400 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the pizza is baked very quickly, in just 40 to 50 seconds, after which carefully selected ingredients are added to round out the taste. We tried three pizzas that convinced us that Mulić is a must-try for lovers of this Italian specialty.


Pizza Mulić is the perfect blend of traditional and modern flavours. In addition to being enriched with prosciutto, burrata, and arugula, its fresh dough base brings a light crunch. At the same time, cherry tomatoes' sweetness perfectly matches burrata's rich creaminess. This pizza offers a harmony of flavours that slowly reveals itself with each bite, making it an ideal choice for lovers of fine food.



Deep Blue Pesja is a true visual spectacle and gastronomic challenge. The blue base of blue pea flowers attracts attention and brings a subtle sweetness that goes well with the rich ricotta and fig jam. Pancetta sausages add a savoury element, while semi-dried tomatoes and parmesan cheese flakes provide layers of flavour. Black truffle finally rounds out the experience with an intense aroma that unobtrusively lingers in the mouth.

Smoke & Fire is a pizza that will satisfy lovers of spicy flavours. Smoked mozzarella combines a deep, rich aroma perfectly with the spicy nduja sausage. Chili threads and hot oil add an extra dose of spice, while fresh basil brings freshness. Pancetta chips provide a crispy texture, contrasting the creamy ingredients. This pizza is a real treat for those who enjoy intense and complex flavours.


Konoba Mulić also offers other tempting gourmet pizzas, such as the Big Om Tuna with smoked tuna carpaccio, the vegetarian Garden Walk, the Pistacchio Problem with cream and pistachio pieces, the Spicy Pumpkin with spicy pumpkin sauce, and the Funghi Dreem with porcini sauce and button mushrooms. Perhaps the most special is the sweet pizza with Nutella, which has an excellent pass rate!
