In Plešivica, thirty kilometres from Zagreb, at the Zdenko Vučinić family farm, the Portugizac Association organized a wine gathering to mark the beginning of the Portuguese wine harvest. Winemakers, journalists, merchants, and other guests gathered, and they were first greeted by the president and secretary of the Association, the Portuguese Plešivica, Josip Braje, and Željko Gregorić.
Wine lovers know that the end of October and the beginning of autumn are reserved for young Portuguese wine, ready to be tasted. Lovers of black drop enjoy its youth, and those who produce it enjoy its quick placement on the market.
In the past, when there was less professional work in the vineyard and cellar, Portugizac wine was considered entirely absent until the New Year. The people of Zagreb have always loved the Portuguese. When Nenad Jandić organized Portugizac festivals in Zagreb many years ago, everything was sold in two days.
Franjo Gregorić was the first to run out of wine. Today, there are fifteen Portugizac winemakers in the Association. In the past, the entrances to restaurants in Zagreb were wrapped with "The Portugizac has arrived, "just like in France, where young Beaujolais nouveau wine is offered simultaneously.
